That time again.........

The QC manager examining work in progress.
The first bowls of the year.
The second firing.

I have another 40+ bowls ready to glaze, so you'll be seeing more of these.   This is the annual push to create bowls to donate to the local "Empty Bowls" fundraiser for a local foodbank.   It's kind of fun to create something functional and not have to deal with the sales of the items.

Polynesian Relic...........

Polynesian carving of an unidentified green stone (possibly meteoric in origin?) 127mm x 101mm x 25mm. Date: circa 480 BCE (via carbon dating).   Origin:  Unknown.  Obtained from a native trader on Naairoa, Rurutu Island by the 1923 Marsh and Wilder South Pacific Expedition, but anecdotal evidence suggests original source is an outlying uninhabited southern island.     Believed to depict "Cthulhu" - leader of the Great Old Ones.   Miskatonic University Museum Collection,  Item# 23A14-00452319-MWC Restricted Access.

A Gift to the Pacific Ocean........

I created a small (about 6-inches tall) Cthulhu idol and thought it'd be cool to take a photo of it in the surf (as if it had just washed up on the beach).   Just after I planted it in the sand, the surf surged hungrily in and swallowed the idol, washing it out to sea.   This was not my intention, but this is both ironic and fitting -- given the Mythos that Cthulhu lies dreaming in a sunken city somewhere in the South Pacific Ocean.   I hope it washes ashore again and gives someone pause for thought ;)   If you visit the Sitka Sedge area, check the shore line!

A small idol of Nyarlathotep, half buried in the eternal sands of time.  Ceramic, roughly 6-inches tall.
