Ah.....glazing. There is a reason I really hate glazing and you nailed it. One has a good idea of how the colors will turn out IF one has used the glaze extensively before -- but there are lots of factors that play a role and can serve to surprise (both good and bad). That's kind of why most ceramic artists say a kiln opening is kind of like Xmas -- you never really know what you're going to get.
All your new stuff is fantastic, BG. Those Crow-kins are getting pretty flashy! Love them on the garden totems, too.
ReplyDeleteI'm a little curious about those colors though. They're so different before and after the firing stages. Do you ever really know how they'll turn out?
