Trekking .............

......the yard.  Remounted the SainSmart Ultrasonic module to the front of the unit and it works pretty well, though now I see a need for either a servo mount (to scan side to side) or several more units mounted at 45-degrees for 'side' vision.   Next up, edge detection circuitry.

Robot.................

...meandering.  The HC-SR04 ultrasonic ranging module isn't working at this time - the width of the 'beam' catches the battery pack, but it works in photovore mode (although best in low light levels).  Need to devise a more forward mount for the module.

The 114:1 gear ratio of the Tamiya dual gearbox works fairly well, but already I'm seeing a need for higher voltage motors....something along the lines of the Pololu 130 6-volt units.  They'll drop into the gearbox with no modification.

Robot Dreams.......

begin to manifest.  Of course, I couldn't just make something easy...I had to go and consider LED wiring, so the task is somewhat greatly increased.....but work progresses.  10mm red LEDs for the eyes, the hole in his chest shall be covered by an Altoids tin (suitably tailored) to hold the battery and I have no idea for the arms/hands yet.....still  musing on that.  And dials...and lots of other stuff.....
