My first Cherry-wood bowl. Salvaged from a neighbor's storm damaged tree. 3.5-inches high & approx 5-inches in diameter. Finish is Watco Teak Oil and wax.

Last of the Burl Bowls

As the horizon recedes...these grow smaller.....diminishing returns and such, eh What Watson? By Jove, what jolly fun to rotate plant carcasses in excess of thousands of RPMs!

This is the last of the strange burl. Sadly. About 4.75-inches in diameter and 2.5-inches tall.

Fortunately a neighbor has dropped off a box of mesquite limbs from AZ.

This is the month for bowls....getting back into the shop before and after work....making sawdust.
This is the 2nd bowl from an unknown burl. Approx 5.5-inch diameter, 3-inch height.

Yet Another New Bowl

Black walnut bowl. 6-inch diameter, 3.5-inches tall. Linseed oil & wax finish.

Myrtlewood bowl. About 3.5-inch tall, 5-inch diameter. Linseed oil & wax finish.

Fear Difference

Ceramic. Bisque fired. Asphaltum glazed. Varnished. Roughly 6-7 inches tall.

Off to the Northwest Ceramics Showcase in PDX this morning to see what can truly be done in the medium....and thought this might be appropriate.

Interesting..grin...just musing...Art is one place difference should not be feared....but like any human endeavour, a sameness is safer than something too different. Eh? I hope to see much in the way of difference today....to be reassured that Art has not become homogenous.
